Costa Rica - Central America's Wildlife Sanctuary
From the Monteverde cloud forests to the rainforest fringed beaches, where giant sea turtles come to lay their eggs, Costa Rica offers some of the best neo tropical wildlife viewing in all of Central America. This peaceful little country, which is often referred to as the Switzerland of the Americas, provides a sanctuary for a diversity of wildlife and is a naturalist’s paradise. Scarlet macaws, emerald toucanets, ruby–eyed tree frogs, colorful butterflies and even the elusive cougar and jaguar may still be found in the pristine jungles of this “rich coast”. Graced by numerous waterfalls, tree ferns, colorful orchids and bromeliads and other flowering plants the highland cloud forests are watered by swirling ,mists and cloaked by mosses and epiphytes. More then 30 species of colorful hummingbirds, bellbirds, and the resplendent quetzal, considered by many to be the most beautiful bird indigenous to the New World, inhabit this ecosystem. With its tremendous diversity of wildlife and well planned system of national parks and wildlife reserves Costa Rica is truly a tropical flora and fauna showcase. Costa Rica
